Sikkim’s daughter Geetanjali Thapa ,model turned actress, bags the Best Actor (Female) or Best Actress award in the 61st National Film Awards for her flawless role in Liar’s Dice on Wednesday (April 16).

Geetanjali was a model based in Kolkata before joining the films.She had won the Mega Miss North East 2007 beauty pageant held at Guwahati, Assam.
Her first film was Myth (2006) which was made in Sikkim when she was in school. Her first major film was Tina Ki Chaabi, however, it was her second major film I.D. which got her two international awards for best actress at the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Madrid Film Festival.
Rajkummar Rao won the Best Actor (male) for ‘Shahid’, also a Hindi movie. Similarly the best director award was given to Hansal Mehta.
