Despite stressing he didn’t make his television appearance for publicity, Mirik lad Sairaj Khati’s debut on Zee Bangla’s reality singing show ‘Saregama’ has put him straight in the limelight. The 17-year-old, who is currently in his hometown on a 10-day break from the reality show, was invited yesterday by various artistes of Mirik at a local café for a short rendezvous to motivate him on his journey to the finale.

Several well-wishers dropped by to wish Sairaj good luck and take photos leaving the teenager dazed. Born to Santaraj and Sunita Khati of Manju Dara Goan, Sairaj is one of the 10 finalists on Zee Bangla’s Saregama.
He cut a place for himself through an audition on April 2 held in Siliguri. Speaking to the media, Sairaj said, “I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude towards the people of the entire Darjeeling district who have been wholeheartedly supporting me. I would not have made it this far without their support. The competition is in its final course, so I would ask all to keep voting and help me win.” (HS)
