A Buddhist monk from Darjeeling, namely Acharya Chodub Lama was seriously beaten on 31/8/2015, by the Bihar Military Police without valid reason at a tea stall just outside of Maha Bodhi Temple in Bodhgaya. He has been living in a Thai Temple since many years and well known by all in Bodhgaya.

It has been reported that the police had also thrashed some other persons in the past without any valid reasons. When Priyapal Bhante complained to the Chairman, National Human Rights Commission in the past about illegal police beating which served a notice to the S.P.Gaya, for explanation. The case is still running in the Human Rights Commission.
