Kalimpong : The powerful influence of independent candidate Dr. Mahindra P Lama seems to have touched the psyche of the youths of Kalimpong. They formed a youth wing of the Darjeeling Dooars United Development Foundation ( DDUDF ) today to support Lama and help him win.

The DDUDF youth wing has Navin Lama as its president, Binod Chettri as the vice-president, Biru Tamang as the secretary, Ajay Subba as assistant secretary and Megh Waiba as its advisor. Apart from the executive members, the youth wing also inducted as many as 50 youths.
Biru Tamang said the youth wing will work under the guidance of its parent organisation and expects to be given election-related tasks during a meeting of the DDUDF on Thursday. The youth wing will be active in various tasks, including promotional events, putting up posters, bike rallies, road shows and party meetings.
Stating the youths have stepped forward with a sense of responsibility, Tamang said, “This is a great opportunity for the youth of the hills. Dr. Lama is an able and learned leader and we are happy that he is contesting the election. We will work hard for him and help him win.”
