Lt General Shakti Gurung, an Indian Gorkha soldier, who was commissioned into 15 Grenadiers in June 1975, will take over the crucial post of military secretary in the Army on the retirement of Lt Gen S A Hasnain on June 30, another reason for Indian Gorkhas to be proud of. General Shakti Gurung was promoted to Lt. Gen of Gajraj corps in Tezpur Assam wef June 2011.

Lt Gen Gurung, who was earlier the Indian military attache in Myanmar, has also commanded the key 4 Corps along the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh.
