During the function Chamling said that he and people of Sikkim supports the Gorkhaland demand. “ The demand of Gorkhaland is within the framework of the constitution and what is there in the constitution we have the right to ask. For the demand of Gorkhaland all should unite and fight and make the central government believe that it is a united demand. This type of situation should be brought in Darjeeling ”

“Happy on being felicitated by the Gorkha Territorial Administration and Hamro Swabhiman in the presence of Yog Guru Swami Ramdev ji and Aacharya Balkrishna ji at the function of 3rd International Mahasammelan held at Gorkha Rangamanch Bhawan, Darjeeling. This gesture is in recognition and appreciation of my services in the field of literature, politics and governance in the State and also on completing 21 years in office as the Chief Minister, Sikkim. It is indeed a great honour and with a complete sense of fulfillment, I share with and dedicate this appreciation to my fellow Sikkimese people and also all Gorkha community living across the globe.
In my address, I urged all Nepali Gorkha community to come together and live in communal harmony to fulfill the economic and socio-political needs. For the upliftment of the Gorkha community, emphasis must be laid on education of children.The Gorkha community must become one of the best communities in the world by following the principles of non-violence and utilizing knowledge, qualities and capabilities inherent in the community.
I also assured to extend all possible support to the Gorkha community of Darjelling Hills in their endeavour of acquiring Statehood.”
